It seems that, above any other arc in Sword Art Online pre-Alicization, there is no other that resonates with audiences quite like that of the Mother’s Rosario. Despite being the most low-stakes in terms of magnitude as well as only being 7 episodes in length, it’s regarded as the best arc by most viewers of the show, even by people who dislike it, and I find that pretty interesting, but it makes sense when you look at how it approaches telling its story.
The Love Live franchise is one that contains a lot of different themes and motifs that it carries over and develops from season to season, and it’s latest iteration Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai AKA NijiGaku is no exception. Although separate from the mainline story, it still manages to hold true to the spirit of the franchise, and as it follows the journey of Takasaki Yuu and her goal of finding her dream, it’s easily a perfect continuation of the series!
It’s no secret that Saint Snow is extremely well-loved in the Love Live! fanbase, as they are introduced in the story of Love Live! Sunshine!! with an instant impact. They are edgy and way cooler than Aqours appeared at the time, and to this day receive some of the best music in the franchise. But their importance in the story and what they serve in comparison to the journey of Aqours is often misunderstood, so in celebration of Leah Kazuno’s birthday, I wanted to break down what made this duo so amazing.

There is possibly nothing more central and universal to the anime community as a whole than the shounen action genre. No matter where you go as a fan of this medium, or even as someone viewing it from the outside, you can’t escape it. Giant laser beams, the power of friendship and screaming. Lots of screaming. And lots and lots of stories that are responsible for pulling millions of us into this medium we all love. Say what you will about it and whatever preconceptions you have towards it, shounen action stories are special. They mean more to us than any of us likely believe and it’s a genre of storytelling I and many others refuse to let be misunderstood. I love these stories, and if there is anywhere to point to as one of the epicenters of shounen action as we know it today, it’s nowhere else than the legendary Weekly Shounen Jump. Even to this day, this titan of a magazine continues to create some of the most beloved stories in the world of Japanese media, and me and some of my friends wanted to share the moments from four series that are undeniably responsible for the love many of us have for this medium in the Western Anime Community. Tite Kubo’s Bleach, Kishimoto Masashi’s Naruto, Oda Eichiro’s One Piece and of course Toriyama Akira’s Dragonball. One of the most influential and famous series of all time and the three series that formed the core of Western anime discussion known as the Big 3. Contradiction feat. Tyler Carter is the opening to The God of Highschool, an anime adaptation of a manhwa from Webtoon that’s been funded by Crunchyroll and marketed as a Crunchyroll Original Series. Tl;dr, the OP sucks big balls and it’s really hard to explain why in one word. Be it the annoying song, the way the visuals are put together, that those same visuals are all ripped from the show itself, or that the OP tells you nothing about the show itself, it really is just a microcosm of everything wrong with this adaptation of a manhwa that I really like.

μ’s is a legend in the world of school idols. In the anime and even in real life, they left a mark on the world that could never be replicated. At the lead of this amazing and radiant group of nine was a normal girl who ran into an open field in search of the light.
In Love Live! Sunshine!!, there are a lot of words that hold thematic weight throughout the series, but none hit more than those of “regret” and “normal”. These words that embody the goals and motivations of every girl that fills the cast, but the one who embodies them the most gave herself the title “normal monster”. That’s Takami Chika, the leader of Aqours, the girl who could only call herself normal and possibly the greatest protagonist in all of anime.
On the birthday of the Number 1 Idol in the Universe and the most popular Love Live character of all time, we take a look at Yazawa Nico, the mischievous gremlin and two-faced creator of the Nico Nico Nii and member of μ’s, often written off by many people in the community as being nothing more than a meme, being extremely rude or just barely scratching the surface of what she serves to the core of Love Live’s story. Because, make no mistake, there is a reason she is so prominent and why she’s so central to the story of Love Live, and I feel that I have no choice but to do her justice so that people can understand her and further understand the detail and meaning within School Idol Project.
